История происхождения термина blueprint

Blueprint – копия или репродукция технического чертежа, полученная с помощью контактной печати на светочувствительной бумаге. Изначально для производства таких копий использовали метод цианотипии. Данный метод был изобретен в 1842 году английским ученым, математиком, физиком, изобретателем и экспериментальным фотографом сэром Джоном Гершелем. Процесс позволял быстро получать точные копии документов, включая чертежи, используемые в строительстве и промышленности. Чертежи получались негативными по отношению к оригиналу, темные линии были светлыми, слегка подкрашенными в голубой, а фон был темно-синего цвета. Именно цвет фона дал этим копиям название blueprint или «синька» в русском варианте. Вместе с появлением синих чертежей в английский язык пришел и термин blueprint.

Термин blueprint и сейчас используется по отношению к строительным чертежам и поэтажным планам зданий.
Но со временем термин blueprint приобрел более широкое значение и теперь чаще употребляется в отношении любого плана, проекта, шаблона, модели действия или поведения.

Blueprint также употребляется в качестве глагола и означает «составлять план, планировать, вырабатывать; делать копию чертежа».
