Many agencies offer various services helping choose and apply to Universities in the UK, but I prefer to do my research myself.
Conveniently, most of large Universities in the UK today have extended online presence, with details descriptions of the fees, subjects, course structure, tuition teams, and even alumini. This is for instance the description of my course, where you can even see student's work over the last few years.
Each University also has Open Days several times a year. During these days you can meet and have a chat with the tutors of your course and current students; go on excursions over your faculty, sometimes even take part in workshops in your area of study; pick up informational materials and souvenirs. For me it was important to have a look around studios and workshops (however now you can also do it online, some workshops – with a 360 view) and meet current students, as I’m doing a creative course. I was also invited to take part in a glass workshop.
Many Universities hold Open Days in other countries, usually they are advertised on their website, in the International section, or you can email the University to find out.
There are also University Fairs held every year in different parts of the UK. They are informational events, where you can talk to tutors from various Universities, ask questions about their courses, pick up informational booklets. This is the link to one of such fairs held in the UK and abroad.
Every Uni would also have an International Department, in my experience, very friendly and helpful. So if you have any questions, you can always contact them.
